And at the same time it's a celebration, a showcase of things I love.
It's easy to find something we love: it can be a colour, an idea, an animal, a plant, a book, and the list goes on...
I decided to follow these rules for the creation of the artworks:
- The title begins with the word “Love”
- The origami module is the tetrahedron created by Tomoko Fuse
- The heart shape is present, formed of 14 tetrahedrons
- The canvas’ size is 30x30 cm (12x12 in)
Here is Part Two, with 10 artworks.
"Love Abundance" - folded paper on canvas - 2021 - 30x30 cm (12x12 in)
I used Japanese style patterned origami paper, that reminds me of abundance: free, flying birds, gold, blue, red with yellow motifs like royal symbols.
"Love Butterflies" - folded paper on canvas - 2021 - 30x30 cm (12x12 in)
Here each wing is a heart, and the body of the butterfly is represented by the origami ninja star. I found this beautiful paper in Venice, Italy, in a shop called Karisma. I used two kinds of paper, one with an ancient botanical page with flowers, and one with an old illustration of butterflies.
I love Cerulean Blue, and I have origami paper in the same colour. I painted a box canvas with this colour in acrylic paint, and made a Celestial Heart using blue and gold. This is golden Japanese origami paper, that reflects light beautifully. I used two golden tetrahedrons inside the heart shape, so they reflect each other, forming a bright golden quadrilateral. The word Celestial means "of the sky", and there are many artworks that use blue and gold, especially in Byzantine art.
This is handmade marbled paper from Venice, Italy, from a shop called Scriba. It's a pleasure to work with, easy to fold. The structure of a clover is like three hearts. I used green paper, together with blue and red. Green is the colour of the heart energy center (energy center number 4). I associated these 3 colours to the code "146", used in Dr Joe Dispenza's meditations in preparation for a mystical experience. 1 is energy center number 1 (red). 4 is green, and 6 is blue.
I was inspired to make this artwork while walking in the morning light. I spotted some orange poppies and admired how vibrant and beautiful they were, with the orange and green colours looking so good together.
This beautiful paper is from Karisma in Venice. Very easy to fold, with gold background and a beautiful print of an ancient painting of fruit (apples, pears, raspberries, cherries, strawberries...). A bite on the heart and stars around, for this abundant meal.
I used two types of paper from Karisma in Venice. A print of an ancient music textbook. A traditional colourful motif from Venice. We learn (from the music textbook), and we create beauty (the colourful motif, and star pattern like a church window).
"Love Manga" - folded paper on canvas - 2021 - 30x30 cm (12x12 in)
I love to read comics and manga. The paper I used in this artwork is from a manga called "Parfait-tic!" I bought when I was living in France. I used the shiny cover in full colour and, in smaller size and stars, the internal pages, black and white.
I created this two designs digitally first (using Adobe Photoshop).
And then I made them on wood canvas.
I Love Black, and I Love White. At the same time. They exist together. They look best together. One helps you to see the other better.
You can see these 10 artworks and more in the new Gallery.
They are available for purchase, please contact support@unamarz.com for more info.
